After dinner we came home to watch the Olympics. All the dogs waited for treats.

Went to dinner Saturday night on the wharf and had a lovely sunset.

We took an afternoon trip with friends of Molly and Sally's to the Haak Winery in Santa Fe Texas.

Saw the new Galveston signs coming back on the causeway. Also, one can see that the pyramid buildings in Moody gardens still stand.

Local artists have reclaimed downed trees to create art pieces around the city. Here are a few examples. The artist is shown working on a pelican.

Historic ice cream and candy parlor. Of course we had to have some.

Historic building and sign from downtown Galveston.

Pelicans outside the fish market. The center brown pelican has a very large fish in it's beak.

Friday we went to the wharf to buy fresh shrimp for dinner. Yum!

Note water mark on brick building in
downtown Galveston.

30 beach houses are missing from this front line of homes - after Ike.

At least this feral cat below has a home for now.
These homes are scheduled for demolition.

Postcard pre-hurricane Ike.
Pictures post Ike. Note the piers
are missing (behind the plaque).
The truck's owner road out the
storm in his office. Pier is detached
from land. Click on photos to enlarge.

An update. The truck on the pier was removed on March 15th. This should be an historic photo.

Callie, Sugar and Coco romp on the beach.

Callie's first dip in the Gulf of Mexico.

Callie and Sugar share a stick in the surf.

Callie really enjoys this beach life. Sugar is good
to share the couch.

Molly and Sally's house from the beach. It's a lot
closer since hurricane Ike. Our gracious hosts have invited us to stay inside - it's so nice to have a little more room than our 25' rig provides. Callie is just loving the grassy backyard and the beach walks.
Susan with her cousins Molly and Sally in their Galveston home. Pictured below is their house and ours (in the driveway).

Drove to New Braunfels to go the the New Braunfel's Smokehouse. Found it had downsized and moved a half a block down the street. It is more like a fast food restaurant with a drive up window. The BBQ was still good and Judy and Callie got beef jerky for the road. We spent the night in the New Braunfel's Wal-mart and we were the only rig. This was a huge superstore open 24 hours a day. Thursday we finished the short drive to Galveston and arrived in time for dinner.
Sheep must be San Angelo's mascots.

We took a side trip to San Angelo Texas, a sweet city that Susan lived in when she was 7-9 years old. This mural is for our spinning friends.

After a horrible night with wind and rain and snow, we got into the repair shop and they were able to make the repairs in time for us to have lunch with Susan's step-father, Adolfo, at our favorite travel diner the "Cracker Barrel".

The shop found that all 5 upper running lights were cracked allowing water to come into the cab. They did not have replacement lens caps, so they sealed them. We will return in April to have them replaced.
Susan finally gets back to Texas. You must enlarge to see the welcome sign.
Threatening skies of New Mexico. Snow in mountains above Las Cruces.

Passsing into New Mexico it was still raining but at least we had a complete rainbow to enjoy.

Driving from Apache Junction to Anthony Texas in torrential downpours. The cactus will appreciate the water come July. We however, developed a leak in the rig. We will stope in Anthony and try and get it fixed.

Went thru Miami Arizona, wish it was Florida.
