Missouri Botanical Gardens

Eureka, the computer is working today. Thought we would share some pictures of our visit to St. Louis and the Missouri Botanical Gardens.

A Chihuly glass piece hangs in the entrance.

Wintering over hot house. Over 100 years old.

There are lovely pools with statues all over the park.

Another Chihuly Art piece in the background.

In the Moroccan garden.

A new Moroccan King John Njus the 1st.

Chihuly "bobbers" in another one of the pools.

These unbelievably huge pads are labeled Victorian Lily Pads.

Our Computer Died!

The unthinkable happened, our computer died!

Thus no more blog, just pictures direct from the phone to Facebook. Here I'm sharing Helen Njus post. We're all in St.Louis.
Not sure if we can post here again, but we are on our way home. Expected to be there 9/10/2017.

Visiting David in Cannon Falls MN

Planned a visit with our friend David. Since he lives in St. Paul and we were in Rochester, we decided to split the difference and meet in Cannon Falls MN.

Cannon Falls is a small town with a populations of 4,083.

Cannon Falls Museum, 1888. Closed this day.

It looks like they have a new library.

This is where we didn't eat. We had planned on lunching here but they were closing to do some catering. They recommended Mill Street Grill down the street. So that is where we went.

Had a great lunch and a wonderful visit.

The restaurant had 3 doors inside; one labeled Tourists, one labeled Women and the other one Men. We had to ask. We were told it was the supply closet but they told children it was a dungeon.

We had not seen this door handle before.Guess where we stopped for dessert?

Back to our Rochester abode, AutumnWoods RV Park.

What's happening here? This is the first time Shelby has gotten on a table.

Another quick trip to Rochester

We each had a final appointment in Mayo Clinic. Here are some of our favorite spots.

Chihuly glass

Mayo Building on the right, Plummer building on the left, getting a face lift. This building is also part of the Mayo complex.

The Mayo brothers with President Roosevelt.

Part of a mural that lines the walkway between buildings.

Thus the dogs got to visit their favorite swimming hole at Leashes and Leads.

It looks like this Border Collie is walking on water.

Last Day at the Fair, a little of this and a little of that!

Outside the Fair Firehouse, their mascot.

At Pioneer Hall there was a fiddle contest. We also saw a turkey calling contest there.

In the Ag Building. Besides the butter sculptures which are done by one artist, there are ice sculptures submitted by other artists.

In the floral department there was a dish garden competition this day.

Over in the food competition building are the decorated cakes.

This cake was spectacular, featuring an edible geode.

Susan's favorite, an octopus eating sushi, very clever!

Cacti cakes, anyone?

Judy's favorite.

In textiles this elephant was Best in Show!

We of course like the Dog Park quilt.

Hand made furniture, beautiful!

Chain saw carving.

A high stepper!

Livestock patrol watching over the miniature pony as it returns to the barn.

Miniature pony cart competition.

Shire drawn wagon competition.

The Budweiser Clydesdales are here!

Gentle Giants out for exercise. One man, four horses.

The Clydesdale mascot

The dog's stall is the one to the right. He was sleeping at the time of the photo.

We hope you've enjoyed our time at the fair.
