Digby and Annapolis Royal Nova Scotia

8/10/2013 Saturday We’re just in time for the Scallop Festival in Digby, big doings for the town. We spent the afternoon watching the parade and shopping. On the way home we stopped at Annapolis Royal, a sweet little town whose main attraction is Fort Anne National Historic Site, originally constructed by the French in the years 1702-1710. Judy was taken with the embankments created to protect the fort. The only remaining French constructed building is the Powder Magazine built in 1708. The British took control of this fort in 1710-1749. After 1854 it fell into disrepair until purchased by the Canadian government in 1883. It was declared a National Historic Site in 1917, the Oldest in Canada.

This is how the road signs are in Nova Scotia. It gives you a clear idea of where one is.
