Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.) or as the Canadians put it I.P.E.

8/09/2103
PEI was a very long drive from Moncton NB but the weather was lovely. You don't pay to get on the island, but you have to pay to get off. Notice the price. The farms are lovely, mostly potatoes. We had lunch and found a cute little beach at Victoria By the Sea. Supposedly the warmest water north of Virginia. I thought the water temperature wonderful and Callie loved the shallows. After visiting Charlottetown, the capital, and shopping, we returned to Victoria By the Sea and found the water level at low tide.

The Confederation Bridge, which joins Borden-Carleton, Prince Edward Island, and Cape Tormentine, New Brunswick, is the longest bridge over ice-covered waters in the world at 12.9 kilometres. Opened on May 31, 1997, this historic bridge brought a new age to transportation to Atlantic Canada, with two lanes of traffic, moving 80 kilometres per hour, 24 hours a day. A trip across the bridge, which is for vehicles only, takes less than 10 minutes. Somehow it took us longer than 10 minutes in our car, but beautiful scenery.
