Off to see the sights

Before we head off to the northern most point of Door County we take the dogs to play in Captain Bailey's dog park in Bailey's Harbor

It a nice large dog park with a section for big dogs and another for small dogs

Driving north thru Sister Bay

A winding road

Finally we arrived at the ferry dock at Northport

This little ferry named the Washington can carry 150 passengers and 18 - 21 autos

This ferry travels between Northport and Washington Island. After the dogs take a dip in Lake Michigan we're off to find a place to picnic.

This is a nice place to dine! At Ellison Bluff County Park.

The views were spectacular!

In the evening we attended a fish boil in Ephraim.

This is the dinning room where one eats the boiled fish dinner. If you don't want fish you may order chicken or ribs.

The cooking of the fish is an elaborate presentation. White fish, potatoes and onions are boiled together in a cast iron pot. When the fish are cooked, the oils rise to the top of the pot. The boiler then tosses a small amount of kerosene on the flames and the increase in flames causes a boilover. The fish oils spill over the side of the pot and the fish is done.

The kerosene has been applied

Dinner's READY

After dinner a walk on the dock

Exploring Door County Wisconsin

Door County is a 70-mile-peninsula with 250 miles of shoreline jutting into Lake Michigan. This postcard shows the major tourist towns. We went to all but Jacksonport and Washington Island.

This is home base for our travels. Camping right next to our friends Laura and Doreen.

The next morning we got up early to go to breakfast at the White Gull Inn, in Fish Creek. It's been there since 1896.

Stuffed French toast with cherries is their specialty

Susan had hash and it was delicious. There was enough food for a second meal.

After breakfast we took a stroll about town and found this interesting and eclectic store.

This shows the viewer a kaleidoscope of color when you rotate the bowl for flowers

Inside is a classic 1932 Indian Motorcycle

Looking down Main Street

All over town were beautiful gardens and sidewalk plantings

Off To Bailey's Harbor WI

Doing our final shopping for our trip up north we find these items in Hy-Vee grocery. They reminded us of our former English neighbors. Neighbors, do these products look familiar?

Entering Wisconsin, again!
